The thing I appreciate the most is mercy: when I don’t get the bad things I do deserve.
Today, I was running late for work…really late. However, when I got on the road, I said a little prayer: God, help give me good traffic today so I am not so late.
I knew that I deserved to be late. But I asked for mercy.
Every road I drove on was clear, and I got to work in 1/2 of the time it normally takes. I felt the grateful rush of mercy. I deserved to be late, but somehow I had been spared.
Whether God was responsible for my traffic blessing or not is irrelevant. I was still able the experience the uplifting rush of one who should have been punished, but was not.
