I get more out of the Bible if I rephrase it in my own words and focus just on the parts of the chapter that grab my attention.
Here’s the part of Psalm 1 that I liked today:
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked…his delight is in the law of the LORD and meditates on it day and night.
That man (or woman) will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
